Artist Sudarsan Pattnaik wins ninth Moscow Sand Sculpture Championship
The 39-year-old from Odisha bagged the gold medal for his 15-foot-high art work 'Mahatma Gandhi's sculpture for non-violence and peace'.
Artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has won the ninth Moscow Sand Sculpture Championship for his 15-foot-high art work "Mahatma Gandhi's sculpture for non-violence and peace", reported the Times of India. The 39-year-old from Odisha won the gold medal at "The magical world of sand" 2016, which had 20 top sculptors from different countries showcasing their work at Kolomenskoye. The competition was held from from April 21 to 27
"I am very happy to have won the title for my country. The director of sand art festival PaveI Minilkov presented the gold medal and the trophy at the ceremony today. I have tried to show through my sculpture how Gandhiji's non-violence concept will bring global peace around the world," Pattnaik said. He runs a sand art school at Puri beach in Odisha.
