India has asked China to stop construction in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir, Indian Army says
While there were no incursions into Ladakh by China, there is no Line of Actual Control between the countries either, a defence spokesperson said.
China has been formally asked to stop its reported construction activities in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir, a defence spokesperson said on Friday. Chinese troops have not entered Ladakh, but there is no Line of Actual Control between the two countries, Colonel SD Goswami said at the army’s Northern Command headquarters in Udhampur. The move comes after reports that China has been upgrading several roads and working on bridges and hydro projects in PoK, dna reported.
Goswami said, “There are areas along the border, including areas in Ladakh, where India and China have differing perception of the LAC. Due to both sides undertaking patrolling up to their perception of the LAC, transgressions do occur.” The two countries were in a deadlock over the LAC when Chinese troops entered India in 2013 and set up posts 19 km into the Daulat Beg Oldi sector.
India had earlier opposed the $46 billion (Rs 3,05,550,17 crore) China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, a part of which runs through PoK. Kashmir is the only state in India that shares a border with both Pakistan and China.
