FTII director’s office gets a live detonator, threat letter against Kanhaiya Kumar
A “bomb-like” substance was among the contents of the package, and police are investigating where it came from.
The director of the Pune's Film and Television Institute of India, Bhupendra Kainthola, on Saturday received a package containing a live detonator and a letter warning against any association with Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union President Kanhaiya Kumar. The package also contained a “bomb-like” substance that the police are scrutinising, The Indian Express reported. The package was not detected as suspicious by campus security.
The police said the package sent through normal post the location it was sent from is yet to be determined.The letter, which was typewritten, was addressed to former FTII director Prashant Pathrabhe, It called Kumar an “anti-national” and said the institute should not support him or allow him to conduct programmes there.
NDTV reported that the package might have been sent before Kumar's planned visit the institute on April 24. Eventually, he did not show up for the event. The contents of the package have been sent to a forensic lab.
