Catalan giants Barcelona won the 2015-'16 Spanish La Liga, defeating Granada 3-0 in the last game of their campaign on Saturday at the Los Cármenes stadium in Spain. Fierce rivals Real Madrid, who also defeated Deportivo la Coruna 2-0 away at A Coruña , would have won the title if Barcelona had lost, but had to be content with a second-place finish.

With both the games starting at the same time, Real Madrid drew first blood, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring in the 21st minute. However, Barcelona soon banished any nerves with a 22nd minute goal from their star striker Luis Suarez, who scored his 38th goal of the season.

Ronaldo scored again for Real a few minutes later, but Barcelona secured the title with Suarez scoring again in the 38th minute. In a less eventful second half, Suarez added the perfect finish to his campaign, completing his hat-trick three minutes before full time. The hat-trick took him to 40 goals and the Golden Boot award for the highest goal-scorer of the season.

Barcelona finished the season on 91 points, one above Real Madrid and seven more than third-placed Atletico Madrid. This is the Catalan giant's second straight title triumph and their 24th overall.
