J Jayalalithaa announces new Cabinet: Will bring back O Pannerselvam, but drop N Vishwanathan
The AIADMK chief met Governor K Rosaiah and staked her claim to form the government in the state, following her party's victory in the Assembly elections.
All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam chief J Jayalalithaa on Saturday met Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah and staked her claim to form the government in the state. The move came two days after the Election Commission declared results of the state’s Assembly elections. Jayalalithaa will be sworn in as chief minister for the second time on Monday. The proceedings will take place at the Madras University Centenary Auditorium in Chennai, NDTV reported.
Jayalalithaa also announced her new Cabinet on Saturday, bringing back several office bearers from her previous term. O Pannerselvam will be her finance minister, while P Thangamani will replace N Vishwanathan as the prohibition and excise minister. He will also hold the electricity portfolio, Hindustan Times reported. Sellur Raju will be made labour minister, while MC Sampath will get the industries portfolio.
The AIAMDK won 134 seats during the May 16 elections.
