A committee set up by the Haryana government to look into the Jat quota stir in the state has recommended departmental action against 15 police officers, including eight station house officers, for negligence, reported PTI. A report by Parkash Singh Committee has observed that the SHOs failed to protect units/establishments including the residence of Finance Minister Abhimanyu, two shopping malls, three school buildings, the plant of a leading paint manufacturing company, a gun house, and several shops during the agitation in February.

The panel has charged the officers with "cowardice and failure to protect police station, Meham, from being damaged/looted". The report submitted on Saturday comes only a day after three Haryana Civil Service officers and 10 DSP rank officers were suspended for "deliberate negligence" on the basis of an earlier finding by the committee.

On May 13, the panel had submitted another report accusing 90 officials of dereliction of duty during the violence. Following the report, the Manohar Lal Khattar government removed Additional Chief Secretary (Home) PK Das. At least 30 people were killed across the state in the violence that broke out during protests held by members of the community who were demanding reservations.
