Three police officers killed in two separate shootings in Srinagar
Terror group Hizbul Mujahideen has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
A group of unidentified assailants launched an attack outside Zadibal police station in Srinagar, leaving two officers dead, News18 reported. Another police official died after militants shot him near Tengpora, Batamaloo a few hours later. He was identified as Mohammad Shafi Chatwal. Terror group Hizbul Mujahideen has claimed responsibility for the attacks, reported News18.
The two policemen killed in the first attack were identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector Nazeer Ahmed and Constable Basheer Ahmed. According to Hindustan Times, the militants shot the two policemen at close range and they died on the spot. A manhunt has been launched for the accused.
The last time a similar incident took place in the city was in June 2013, when two police men were shot dead on Hari Singh High Street.
