16-year-old boy stripped, beaten and abused with a beer bottle in Delhi, six arrested
One of the accused filmed Monday's incident on his mobile phone and shared the clip. The video made its way to the police on Thursday.
Six people were arrested on Friday in connection with a brutal assault on a 16-year-old boy in Delhi. The teenager was beaten, stripped and abused allegedly by a group of drunken men in the capital’s Inderpuri area on Monday. However, the mobile video of the incident, which one of the accused filmed and shared, only surfaced on Thursday, police said.
The men accused the boy of theft, and police said he was paraded naked in the colony. In the video, the boy can be heard screaming as he is beaten with his hands and legs tied. The men also allegedly assaulted him anally with a beer bottle. Police have yet to verify the video, PTI reported.
The teen’s parents reported the incident to the police on Wednesday. They alleged he did not return home for a long time after the attack and tried to kill himself. “They caught me, beat me up and accused me of stealing. They shut me up in an office and didn’t tell my parents where I was,” the boy told reporters.
Police have registered cases of assault and wrongful confinement against the accused, who live in the same colony. Senior police officer Surender Kumar said the 16-year-old’s medico-legal counselling report did not suggest any sexual assault.
