Defending champions of the I-League, Bengaluru Football Club, have parted ways with coach Ashley Westwood by mutual consent, drawing the curtains on a three-year long successful association. The decision was announced in a statement released by the club on Tuesday.

The 39-year-old Westwood managed the club for three seasons between 2013 and 2016, leading the team to unprecedented success. Under him, Bengaluru FC won two I-League titles in 2013 and 2016 respectively and the Federation Cup in 2014. They have also qualified for the quarter-finals of the Asian Football Confederation Cup.

"It's been an extremely difficult time for the management of the club to part ways with Ashley Westwood," said Parth Jindal, the chief executive officer of the club. "We would like to thank Ashley for what has been a phenomenal three years with the club."
