Union Law Minister DV Sadananda Gowda is concerned about the rising instances of false terror cases filed against Muslim youths in the country, reported the Times of India. He said such cases often end in acquittals owing to lack of evidence. The Union minister said reforms in the legal system are in the works to solve this problem.

He mentioned the recent incident where 10 Muslim youths were accused of having links with the terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed. However, seven of the accused charged with involvement in a terror plot were later released because the investigators could not find any proof to corroborate their claim.

"Cases of arrest of Muslim youths on false terror charges are a matter of concern. We are thinking of bringing in changes. The law commission is working on a report in this matter to bring about reforms in criminal procedure, bail, prosecution lapses, etc. A Supreme Court judge is the chairperson of a panel preparing the report, and there are other legal experts who are helping in preparing this report, and it is being worked upon," Gowda said at the 'Vikas Parv' celebration in Aligarh. The event was held to mark the two-year completion of the National Democratic Alliance government in power at the Centre.
