India succumbed to their first loss in the 2016 Champions Trophy, going down 1-2 in a tightly fought game against Belgium in London on Monday. After two quarters of no scoring, Belgium drew first blood and went ahead through a penalty corner converted by Alexander Hendrickx in the 25th minute. However, India answered back almost immediately, with Devindar Walmiki smashing it in from close range two minutes later.

Belgium were relentless in their attacking and it finally paid off in the 52nd minute as Jerome Truyens gave them the lead again. India continued to press, but Belgium held firm to break PR Sreejesh's men's unbeaten streak in the tournament. The Asian champions are now in third place in the table and will play Korea on Tuesday.
