The United States’ Republican Party on Tuesday officially nominated controversial business tycoon Donald Trump as its presidential candidate. Trump’s votes from the primaries were counted at the Republican convention in New York, his supporters cheering as the tally crossed the required 1,237-mark. The giant screen above his podium read “OVER THE TOP”, while an image of him was beamed into the area from the Trump Tower soon after.

Trump said, “I am so proud to be your nominee for president of the United States.” He added, “Together we have received historic results, with the largest vote total in the history of the Republican party. This is a movement and we have to go all the way.”

Indiana Governor was also named the party’s official vice presidential nominee at the event. Trump will make his official convention address on Thursday.
