Centre bifurcates Ministry of Communications to form new ministry of electronics and IT
The new ministry will deal with matters related to Aadhaar, internet, information technology enabled services and National Informatics, among others.
The National Democratic Alliance government has bifurcated the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to form a new Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, reported PTI. The new ministry will handle matters related to Aadhaar, internet, information technology enabled services, initiative on bridging the digital divide and National Informatics, among others.
The newly formed ministry will have the Department of Electronics and Information Technology under it. With the change, there will be two departments in the Ministry of Communications – Department of Telecommunications and Department of Posts. The Unique Identification Authority of India was shifted out of Niti Aayog. Manoj Sinha (pictured above) holds the charge of the Ministry of Communications.
