Wife of suspended Bharatiya Janata Party leader Dayashankar Singh, who had who used a derogatory slur against Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati, on Friday alleged that she and her 12-year-old daughter were being abused and threatened by BSP activists. Swati Singh said she will lodge an FIR against the BSP chief for the "mental trauma", reported ANI.
"They are calling me and my daughter. They are abusing her. My daughter is traumatised. If something happens to her, will Mayawati take responsibility for it?," she told NDTV.
Dayashankar Singh, who was expelled from the BJP for six years and is facing arrest for saying Mayawati was "worse than a prostitute", is still on the run. Uttar Pradesh Police said Singh left for an unknown location when they arrived at his residence to arrest him, Deccan Chronicle reported. Superintendent of Police of Balia district Manoj Kumar Jha said efforts were on to arrest Singh, who was also sacked as the vice president of BJP's Uttar Pradesh unit.
On Thursday, BSP supporters staged massive protests in Lucknow over Singh's remarks and demanded his arrest. BSP MLA Usha Chaudhary even called Singh an "illegitimate child". "Based on what Dayashankar Singh said about Mayawati ji, I think it's Dayashankar's family which is like that. There is something wrong with Dayashankar Singh's DNA," she said. The protests were called off after police assured them that Singh would be arrested soon.
