AAP MP Bhagwant Mann apologises for live streaming video from Parliament
Leaders including Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi raised the issue in the Lower House and said he had compromised security in Parliament.
Aam Aadmi Party legislator Bhagwant Mann on Friday apologised to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan after she summoned him and reportedly expressed her displeasure at him live streaming a video from Parliament on Thursday. Mann has faced severe criticism from leaders including the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi. The BJP’s RK Singh also said that the video contained sensitive information about security arrangements and could even be used by terrorist organisations.
Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned at noon on Friday over the uproar cause by the video, and Mahajan said "appropriate action" will be taken. On Friday, Mann had earlier said he did not mean to compromise security by sharing the video, and added that he will issue an apology for it.
According to ANI, Mann’s video, which was live-streamed on Facebook, showed the approach to the premises, the security pickets and internal security positions. However, Mann defended his actions on Thursday, saying he was just showing people how the Parliament functions. Earlier, he had also said he will post another video, and that he can be sent a notice if there are any objections.
