India cruised to an innings and 92-run victory over West Indies in the first Test of the fourth match series in Antigua on Sunday, after bowling West Indies out for 231 in their second innings on Sunday. West Indies had been made to follow on after being dismissed for 243 in their first innings in response to India's first innings score of 566/8 declared.
Having started the day at 21/1 still needing another 302 runs to make India bat again, West Indies soon lost their way. Marlon Samuels scored a half-century, but West Indies collapsed from 88/2 to 132/8. Ravichandran Ashwin was the hero for India finishing with figures of 7/83, his first five-wicket haul outside Asia.
The last two wickets offered some resistance, putting together a 95-run partnership but India ultimately broke through to complete a comprehensive victory and start off the series on a clinical note.
