Rupee climbs 14 paise against US dollar in early trade
The Sensex rose by 119.99 points to 28,144.32 points while the Nifty 50 index opened 21.15 points up.
The rupee rose by 14 paise to 67.07 against the dollar in early trade on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Sensex climbed 119.99 points, or 0.42%, to 28,144.32 points, and the Nifty index opened 21.15 points up at 8,636.95, reported PTI.
According to analysts and forex dealers, the rupee's gain was because of sustained selling of the US dollar by banks and exporters, prompted by persistent foreign capital inflows. The dollar had dropped against other currencies overseas as well after the United States Federal Reserve left interest rates untouched.
The Sensex had gained 48 points on Wednesday after the government approved changes in the Goods and Service Tax Constitutional Amendment Bill and reached a consensus on key issues.
