Kashmiri man arrested for 'liking and sharing anti-India' posts on Facebook: The Indian Express
Taufiq Ahmed was booked on charges of sedition after Ratan Yadav, the Bhilai coordinator of Bajrang Dal, filed a complaint against him.
A Kashmiri man was arrested on Thursday for commenting on, forwarding and “liking anti-India” posts on social networking site Facebook, reported The Indian Express. Taufiq Ahmed, who worked in Bhilai, was picked up by the Chhattisgarh Police from a Jammu-bound train at Saugor railway station in Madhya Pradesh. He was sent to jail on charges of sedition.
Durg Superintendent of Police Amresh Mishra said a case had been registered under Section 124A of the Indian Penal Code based on a complaint from the Bhilai coordinator of Bajrang Dal, Ratan Yadav. “The complaint was that Tausif Ahmed, who is from Kashmir, had commented on, liked and shared several things against India, such as ‘India Go Back’, on Facebook."
Yadav had filed the complaint on Thursday following which Ahmed left for Kashmir. He boarded a train connecting Durg and Jammu. The Madhya Pradesh Police helped locate and arrest Ahmed. However, Sagar Superintendent of Police, Sachin Atulkar, told The Indian Express that he did not resist the arrest and nothing objectionable was found on him.
