Indian archer Atanu Das finishes fifth among 64 in ranking round at Rio Olympics
The 24-year-old from Bengal is ranked 22 in the world.
Archer Atanu Das surpassed his World No 22 status to finish fifth in the ranking round of the men's individual archery competition at the Rio Olympics 2016 on Friday. The ranking round has 64 archers.
Das, who was 15th after six rounds, finished strongly to clock a 683 out of a possible 720 after 12 rounds. In doing so, he shot 17 bullseyes. In the round of 64 on Tuesday, he will face Jitbahadur Muktan of Nepal, who finished 60th with a score of 607.
However, the day's honours belonged to Korean Kim Woojin, who set a new world record with a score of 700 out of 720 with 26 bullseyes.
