Home Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday over the ongoing crisis in Kashmir, and said that the problem was sponsored by Pakistan, ANI reported. The state has witnessed unrest since Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani was killed by security forces on July 8. Singh said there will be an all-party meeting in Jammu and Kashmir on August 12, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also attend.

The minister said he knew the people of Kashmir were not “leading a normal life”, ANI reported, but that the People’s Democratic Party-led government in the state was doing its best to provide them facilities and improve the situation. Parts of the state have been under curfew-like restrictions since July 8. "Anti-national slogans against the country won’t be tolerated on Indian soil, want to appeal people in Kashmir to stop such elements," he said, adding that if talks were held with Pakistan, it would be regarding Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir only, and not the rest of the state.

Singh said, "I want to assert that no power in the world can wrest Kashmir from us." He also said that Lashkar-e-Taiba militants were “trying to threaten” Indian security forces in Kashmir. Earlier on Wednesday, the National Investigation Agency announced that arrested terrorist Bahadur Ali said around 30 to 40 militants were being trained by the LeT to infiltrate India.

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had earlier made provocative statements regarding the situation in the Kashmir, and had repeatedly called for a plebiscite for citizens to decide which country they wanted to be a part of.
