Najma Heptullah sworn in as governor of Manipur
The 75-year-old BJP leader had resigned as minority affairs minister last month.
Bharatiya Janata Party leader Najma Heptullah took oath as governor of Manipur on Sunday, reported All India Radio News. Heptulla, who resigned as the minority affairs minister on July 12 after she turned 75, will be the 18th governor of the state.
She took over the post from V Shanmuganathan, former vice president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, who has been looking after the party's Manipur affairs since September 30 last year. The state’s Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in February 2017.
