Bihar mid-day meal case: School principal found guilty of serving poisonous food
The court, however, acquitted Mina Devi of murder charges in the case that led to the death of 23 children in Chhapra in 2013.
Gandaman primary school principal, Mina Devi, was convicted in a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder by a Chhapra court in Bihar on Wednesday. Devi was found guilty of serving poisonous food in the school, which led to the death of 23 children on July 16, 2013. Devi's husband, Arjun Yadav alias Arun Rai, was acquitted of all charges. The court will announce the quantum of her punishment on August 29.
The court acquitted Devi of charges of murder, attempt to murder and criminal conspiracy, reported The Indian Express. Parents of the 23 students have expressed their disappointed at the court's verdict. Raju Shah, who had lost his six-year-old son said, “Any school principal can now get away with an act of negligence and get only mild punishment.”
