Uri encounter that started on Tuesday enters its final stages
The Army said one jawan has been killed and two injured in the operation.
The gun battle between Indian Army personnel and militants in Kashmir’s Uri sector entered its 25th hour on Wednesday, reported NDTV. The Army said the operation to eliminate about 15 infiltrators is in its final stages. One soldier has died and two others have suffered injuries during the encounter. The security personnel have killed more than 10 militants, though the exact number has yet to be officially declared.
On Tuesday, the Pakistani Army fired shot violating the ceasefire agreement with India. The Indian Army also retaliated. On the same day, another gun battle was reported from the state's Handwara area. Four or five militants are believed be involved, and one soldier has reportedly been injured. The incidents comes only three days after militants attacked an Army base in Uri on September 18. The incident left 18 soldiers dead.
