Tamil film Visaaranai (Interrogation) directed by Vetrimaaran has been chosen as India’s official entry to the Oscars in the Best Foreign Language Film category. The Film Federation of India announced its decision Thursday. Visaaranai, Vetrimaaran’s third film, looks at issues of corruption and custodial violence in the police force.
FFI Secretary General Supran Sen said the decision was unanimous. A total of 29 entries were being considered, including Udta Punjab, Umrika, Thithi, Sairat, Neerja, Dhanak, and Nil Battey Sannata.
