The encounter between security forces and militants in Kashmir's Pampore area entered its second day on Tuesday. Two soldiers had been injured the previous day. The militants are believed to be holed up in the government building they attacked, reported The Times of India. No deaths have been reported so far.

On Monday morning, a group of militants entered the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute in Pampore's Sempora locality. The militants reportedly breached the building from the river side using a boat on the Jhelum river, which flows between Kashmir and Pakistan. The militants set a section of the building on fire to attract the attention of the security personnel, NDTV reported.

The building, which was also attacked in February, caught fire earlier in the morning, but the cause has not been ascertained yet, the officer added. However, an Army official said gunshots were heard inside soon after the fire.

The last encounter at the institute went on for more than 48 hours. At least three militants were killed in the gunfight, besides two soldiers and a civilian.
