India again made easy work of New Zealand, winning the third Test at Indore by 321 runs. India recorded a 3-0 win against the Kiwis. A century from Cheteshwar Pujara (101 not out) set the ball rolling for the hosts early on Day Four, and Virat Kohli declared at 216/3 in the second innings. New Zealand had to chase a stiff 475, and were again faced with Ravichandran Ashwin's spin (7/59 in the 2nd innings), finally folding up for 153. The Indian off-spinner finished with a match figure of 13/140.

India had finished Day Three in a leading position with all their wickets intact. Veteran batsman Gautam Gambhir, despite suffering an injury on Monday, came out to bat and breezily scored a half-century. Pujara then piled on to New Zealand's misery.

Once again, New Zealand batsmen succumbed to Ashwin and his spin partner Ravindra Jadeja, besides a brief fight from skipper Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor. Ashwin has claimed his career-best Test figures as India established their status as the top Test team in the world. He was declared Man of the Series.

Later, skipper Virat Kohli was presented with the International Cricket Council's mace, for leading India to the top of the Test rankings.
