Virat Kohli continued his rich vein of form to slam 85 not out and help India chase down New Zealand's modest score of 190 in the first One-Day International at Dharamsala. Medium-pacer Hardik Pandya (3/31), on his one-day debut, picked up early wickets to give India the upper hand in the contest. The hosts romped home in just 33.1 overs with six wickets to spare. The tally stands at 1-0 in the five-match series.

New Zealand's batsmen's struggles continued to spill on from the test series, where they were whitewashed 0-3. India picked up wickets at regular intervals. After Pandya landed the early blows, pacer Umesh Yadav and spinners Amit Mishra and Kedar Jadhav pitched in to reduce the visitors to 65/7 at one stage.

Tom Latham (79 not out) was among the few batsmen to carry his bat through the innings, also becoming the first New Zealander to do so. Lending him support was tail-ender Tim Southee (55), who joined hands with the Kiwi opener to take their side to a respectable total. The Indian batsmen were always in control of the contest and yet again, Kohli ensured that the team got across the finish line without any hiccups.
