Jammu and Kashmir: Indian soldier killed by Pakistani troops in Naushera
The Army said 24-year-old Sudhees Kumar was a target of 'unprovoked firing'.
A soldier was killed in an incident of "unprovoked firing" by Pakistani troops in Jammu and Kashmir's Naushera, Indian Army officials said. According to NDTV, officials said the Army responded "appropriately" along the Line of Control. The soldier has been identified as 24-year-old Sudhees Kumar from Sambhal District in Uttar Pradesh.
There has been an increase in ceasefire violations after India carried out surgical strikes on "terror launch pads" along the LoC. Officials reported a breach of ceasefire violations on October 3, 4 and 5 along the Line of Control in Jammu. On September 18, militants had attacked an Indian Army installation in Uri, killing 19 soldiers. India accused Pakistan of being involved in the attack, but Islamabad has dismissed the allegations as "baseless".
At least 16 civilians were killed and 71 others injured in 405 incidents of cross-border firing by Pakistan last year, NDTV reported.
