India thumped Thailand 73-20 in the semi-finals of the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup in Ahmedabad on Friday. Thailand were no match for the hosts and favourites India, who will face Iran in the summit clash on Saturday.

India started all guns blazing and Thailand had no clue what hit them. The hosts raced to a 14-2 lead in the first half, which soon became 24-3 with seven minutes left. Ajay Thakur and Pardeep Narwal were brilliant with their raids, as India took the half 36-8. India won 22 raid points to Thailand's seven in the first half.

The second half followed the same path as the first as India brought up their half-century in no time, while Thailand struggled to reach double figures. Thakur and Narwal both recorded Super 10s, while Nitin Tomar was impressive as well as India soon hit the 70-mark. India put their foot off the gas in the final moments of the second half, with a spot in the final long confirmed. The home team recorded 42 raid points to Thailand's 15 in the match. The hosts also scored 18 tackle points and 12 all-out points.

In the other semi-final, Iran prevailed over South Korea 28-22 in a tightly contested encounter.
