Virat Kohli (154 not out) scored his 26th One-Day International hundred to take India to a 7-wicket win in Mohali on Sunday. After being put in to bat first, New Zealand recovered from 169/6 to post a fighting total of 285. India were at a precarious 41/2 when Kohli, along with skipper MS Dhoni amassed a 151-run stand for the third wicket to set the team up for a win, which gave the hosts a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

Kedar Jadhav (3/29) and Amit Mishra (2/46) spun a web around the Kiwis, whose middle-order once again crumbled after Tom Latham scored a fluent half-century. All-rounder Jimmy Neesham, along with the tail, rescued their side as the Indian pacers struggled in the final overs.

India lost openers Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane early, but Kohli and Dhoni were always in control of the chase, finding boundaries and rotating the strike. India sailed home with 10 balls to spare. The fourth ODI will be played on October 26 in Ranchi.
