Salman Khan's bodyguard booked for assault
Shera allegedly beat up an acquaintance using a baton and the butt of a pistol before he fled the scene.
Actor Salman Khan's bodyguard was booked for assault on Wednesday. The police told PTI that Gurmeet Singh alias Shera had allegedly beaten up an acquaintance, Attar Umar Qureshi, at DN Nagar in Andheri, Mumbai, on Tuesday night. He is currently on the run, reported Hindustan Times.
Inspector Dhanaji Nalawade of DN Nagar police station said that at first, the two had an argument over the phone and later Shera beat up Qureshi when they got into a fight on Link Road. According to Times of India, Qureshi works at a pub in Vile Parle.
The complainant alleged that Shera hit him with a baton and the butt of a pistol before fleeing the spot, said Mumbai Police spokesperson Ashok Dudhe. Qureshi was admitted to hospital after the fight. However, the police has not said what caused the altercation.
Shera, who has been booked for voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation, has been Salman Khan's bodyguard for more than 18 years. The actor had even dedicated his film, Bodyguard, to Shera, reported dna.
