A gun store owner in the United States says he will not sell firearms to Muslims and supporters of Democratic Party presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, PTI reported on Monday. The owner, Paul Chandler, took out and advertisement in a local daily and put up a sign near his store which said, “Please NO Muslims or Hillary Supporters — We do not feel safe selling to terrorists!”

Chandler said that since his store branded itself as selling “politically incorrect firearms”, he was free to refuse service to Democrats and Muslims. “She [Clinton] has clearly stated that she doesn’t think Americans should have what she calls assault weapons or even guns themselves,” he said, adding that the Democratic nominee wanted to take guns away from the American people.

He further claimed that Muslims wanted to “destroy America” and the “American way of life”. “I don’t feel safe arming them,” he said. The US Civil Rights Act of 1964 does not allow discrimination on the basis of religion at public spaces. However, it is unclear if a gun store qualifies as one.

While Clinton has stated that she does not want to abolish the Second Amendment of the US Constitution – which allows the citizens of the country to keep and bear firearms – her opponents have said that she wants to take away guns from the American people. In May, the National Rifle Association – the country’s most well-known gun rights advocacy group – endorsed Clinton’s opponent and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
