Central Italy was hit by another earthquake on Thursday, measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale, Reuters reported. The National Institute of Geophysics and Vulcanology has located the epicentre of seismic activity in the country's Pieve Torina (Macerata) region. Officials said it was in the same region as the quake that razed historic structures near Perugia on October 30 (pictured above). According to the news agency's report, the quake was shallow and measured 10 km deep.

Officials said no emergency situations have been reported yet, The Telegraph reported. A 5.0 quake is considered moderate and capable of inflicting significant damage.

On October 30, a temblor measuring 6.6 was the biggest to strike the country in 36 years, Reuters reported. The quake destroyed several historic structures and left over 15,000 people homeless, BBC reported.

On October 26, two earthquakes measuring 5.5 and 6.1 on the Richter scale struck Macerata province's Visso in Central Italy. A 6.2 magnitude temblor in August had caused widespread damage in Central Italy, leaving more than 300 people dead. At least 1,000 aftershocks have been felt since then.
