A man and his son repeatedly raped their 13-year-old domestic help at their Hyderabad residence, the police said on Wednesday. Sudhakar Reddy and his son Bharat Kumar Reddy, who are both lawyers, have been arrested, and the girl is believed to be pregnant, according to NDTV.

She was brought to their house in Greenhills Colony in Hyderabad’s Chaitanyapuri locality six months ago from Suryapet, located 140 km from the city. The police have booked both accused for crime against children, rape and sexual assault, and bonded labour.

Sudhakar Reddy’s elder son Tarak Ram Reddy has also been charged for assaulting a neighbour for allegedly notifying activists about the family’s crimes. Children’s rights activists rescued the teenager from the house and reported the crime to the police, Deccan Chronicle reported.

The teenager was allegedly beaten if she tried to fight against the assault. She was unable to call for help as she did not have access to a phone. “I was sodomised by the father often, and his son repeatedly raped me,” she said. “When I tried to complain other members of the family beat me up.”
