Congress President Sonia Gandhi admitted to Delhi hospital with a viral fever
Party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said the leader will be discharged from the facility within two days.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi has been admitted to Delhi’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital for treatment for a viral fever, ANI reported. The national party leader was recently in the news for her statements dismissing comparisons between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi during a rare interview on November 21.
Party spokesperson Randeep S Surjewala said, “She will be discharged within two days. She will resume her Parliament duty soon. There is no cause for worry,” NDTV reported. The 69-year-old leader has held her position as party president since 1998.
During a high-level party meeting last month, members “unanimously” decided to promote her son and Congress vice-president but stopped short of announcing a date, the news channel reported.
In August, Sonia Gandhi had contracted a fever that led to the suspension of the Congress roadshow in Varanasi. She also underwent surgery on her left shoulder on August 3, The Times of India reported.
