Cricketer Virat Kohli on Tuesday rose to his career best batting ranking, scoring the second position in the International Cricket Council’s list. The Indian Test captain smashed a mammoth 235 – his highest Test score – on Monday, which helped India win the ongoing series against England.

With 886 rating points, Kohli overtook England’s Joe Root at the end of the Mumbai Test. His 235 feat earned him 53 points. Kohli now trails Australian skipper Steve Smith by a slender margin of 11 points.

The 28-year-old also holds the second spot in the One-Day International batting charts and sits pretty at the top of the Twenty20 International rankings by a fair distance.

In the bowlers list, spin ace Ravichandran Ashwin maintained his place at the top, with a match haul of 12/167 in the Mumbai Test. His splendid performance had helped India clinch the five-match series after taking an unassailable 3-0 lead.
