Cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu on Tuesday reiterated his wish to continue with his work on popular TV programme The Kapil Sharma Show. “What I do after work hours is no one’s business,” he said. “Sometimes I work all seven days from early morning till 6 pm. So what I do after 6 pm is nobody’s business. It’s not an office of profit.”

His comments came hours after Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said he would seek legal advice on whether Sidhu can continue as a celebrity-judge on the comedy show. “Yes, the chief minister has asked for legal advice. I will provide it once I receive the files,” Punjab Advocate General Atul Nanda told NDTV.

Sidhu, who is now a minister in the Punjab Cabinet, did not directly comment on the legal advice sought, but said, “The boss is always right.” However, his wife Navjot Kaur said he would “give up his TV show” if there was a question of legality. “He will abide by the law and will quit TV work if need be. But I would also like to say that actors like Shatrughan Sinha and Kirron Kher have worked in films while being Parliament members,” she told India Today.

Earlier, Sidhu had said that that he can multitask and not allow it to hamper his work for the state. He had mooted flying to Mumbai every Saturday to shoot for The Kapil Sharma Show and then fly back to Punjab on Sundays.

Sidhu took charge as the Punjab minister of tourism, culture and local bodies on March 16. “People made me win five times in the past 12 years, and no one had an objection,” he said.
