Bikaner: Eight teachers accused of raping 13-year-old over the course of 18 months, say reports
The matter came to light when the girl was diagnosed with blood cancer three months ago.
A man has alleged that eight private school teachers raped his 13-year-old daughter over the course of a year-and-a-half in Rajasthan’s Bikaner, media reports said on Saturday. On Friday, her parents filed an FIR against the accused at the Nokha police station. The matter came to light after the girl was diagnosed with blood cancer three months ago, The Times of India reported on Saturday.
Rajasthan Minister GC Kataria said the “charges were serious and could not be denied”. According to the FIR, she was first assaulted in April 2015. “We have registered the FIR against eight people based on the father’s allegations. All eight are teachers of a private school and we have booked them under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other sections of the IPC,” the English daily quoted a police officer as saying.
The accused reportedly forced her to take pills to abort the foetus after they found she was pregnant. They allegedly took photographs of the girl in the nude and blackmailed her with them.
No arrests have been made in the case yet, News18 reported. State Panchayati Raj Minister Rajendra Rathore said he would “take responsibility for the victim’s treatment”, and that Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje was “personally looking into the incident”.
