Jammu: Suspected militants attack police constable, decamp with his service weapon
Two people have been arrested in connection with Saturday night's incident. Two others are absconding with the AK-47.
A group of suspected militants attacked a police constable on Saturday night and fled with his AK-47 in Jammu. The police have arrested two people in connection with the incident, and they are looking for two more people.
The constable was struck behind his head while he was walking near Tawi bridge after his duty, reported The Indian Express. The militants also threw chili powder in his eyes before fleeing with his weapon on a motorcycle. He was later admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital. The police have found the motorcycle used in the crime.
This comes only days before Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to the state’s Udhampur district. Modi will be in the state on April 2 to inaugurate the Chenani-Nashri road tunnel, the country’s longest.
