Facebook will soon begin to test a new feature that will allow users post GIFs in comments using services such as Giphy and Tenor, reported TechCrunch. “We are about to start testing the ability to add GIFs to comments…but for now, we repeat that this is just a test,” Facebook told the website in a statement.

The GIF button will function the same way it does on Facebook’s Messenger app. Users will be allowed to browse trending GIFs and also search for specific reactions. The feature will be made available to only a small section of Facebook users initially, according to the TechCrunch report.

So far, Facebook has stayed away from GIFs, and users were only allowed to share them on their news feed by searching for them on websites such as Imgur and Tumblr. To make the social media platform more engaging, Facebook recently introduced a Snapchat-like story feature on Messenger.
