India need 87 runs to beat Australia in the fourth and final Test at Dharamsala and win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, after putting in a commanding display with both bat and ball on the third day.
Australia were dismissed for 137 in their second innings, setting India a target of 106. Indian openers KL Rahul and Murali Vijay batted six overs to end the day at 19 for no loss.
The day began with Ravindra Jadeja and Wriddhiman Saha putting up a crucial seventh-wicket partnership of 96 to give India a slender lead of 32. India were finally dismissed for 322 with Jadeja scoring 63, the highest score of the Indian first innings.
However, Indian bowlers turned up with one of the best performances of the series, with Umesh Yadav, and spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin getting three wickets apiece as India ran through the Australia batting order in less than 54 overs. Glenn Maxwell top-scored for Australia with 45, while Matthew Wade, who tried to bat with the lower order, got 25 off 90 balls.
The four-Test series is level at 1-1.
