Arunachal Pradesh deputy Speaker’s son arrested for shooting dead youth Congress leader
Kajum Bagra gunned down Kenjum Kamsi in Aalo town after an altercation, the police said.
Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Speaker Tumke Bagra’s son was arrested on Sunday for shooting dead a Congress youth wing leader that night, the police said on Monday. Kajum Bagra gunned down Kenjum Kamsi (pictured above) in front of a hotel at Aalo town, West Siang district, around 10 pm on Sunday after an altercation between the two, Superintendent of Police Mari Riba told PTI.
The police have seized Kajum Bagra’s revolver and have registered a case, the SP added. The 30-year-old had surrendered before the police, according to The Assam Tribune.
The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee has condemned the incident, adding that the “heinous crime” proved the saying “like father like son”. “The tragic incident has reflected the true colours of the Bharatiya Janata Party [to which the deputy Speaker belongs],” it said.
The committee has demanded Deputy Speaker Tumke Bagra’s resignation on moral grounds and sought “exemplary punishment” for Kajum Bagra.
The deputy Speaker was elected from Aalo constituency.
