West Bengal: At least three dead after boat capsizes in river Ganga
The deceased were daily wage labourers, who were on their way back home when the incident took place.
A boat capsized in the Ganga river in Simultala, West Bengal, on Thursday killing at least three people, PTI reported. There were 12 people on the boat. While eight of them swam to the shore, one person is still missing.
Block development officer Dulal Chandra Sarkar said rescue operations were under way. He said the deceased were daily wage labourers who were returning from Gobindarampur to their homes in Jiarattola village, Lakkhipur gram panchayat.
