Balaghat fire: Toll rises to 25, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan announces compensation
A magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
The toll in the Balaghat firecracker factory explosion rose to 25, and most of the deceased are believed to be workers employed in the factory. Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday night announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the families of the victims, reported ANI.
Singh further said that the state government will bear the medical expenses of the seven people injured in the blaze, PTI reported. The fire at the factory owned by Waris Ahmed has been completely doused, said Balaghat District Collector Bharat Yadav, adding that the rescue operation was also over.
The reason behind the fire is still being investigated, Yadav told PTI. “It is possible that someone might have thrown a burning beedi,” he added. A magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
