After his thriving yoga and FMCG businesses, Ramdev has floated his private security firm, the Hindustan Times reported on Wednesday. “Our aim is to prepare individuals for self and country’s security and for this we have formed Parakram Suraksha Private Ltd,” Ramdev said in a statement.

Retired Army and police personnel are training young men and women at Patanjali’s complex in Haridwar, the report said. These trainees will work as private security guards with Parakram Suraksha Private Ltd. Ramdev plans to launch the firm in some key states by the end of 2017.

At least 5 million workers are involved in the private security business. The sector is worth about Rs 40,000 crore, and is growing at a rate of 40%, according to a study by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry. “As early as in 2006, it was reported that the industry was paying Rs 10,000 crore to the exchequer by way of service tax, provident fund, contributions to employees insurance etc,” the study said.

Earlier in May, the self-styled guru had launched a new business policy called “Prosperity for Charity” and said he would set up a residential school for children of soldiers who have been killed. It will be called the Patanjali Avasiya Sainik School and located around the National Capital Region, he had said.
