A group of drivers of cab aggregators Ola and Uber are planning to launch their own service in August, PTI reported on Wednesday. The drivers, who recently formed a union, plan to launch their company with the help of a Kolkata-based technology startup, which owns the TYGR app.

The TYGR app provides consumers access to local cab services such as taxis, autos and bikes, as well as value-added services such as courier, limousine and ambulance.

“We plan to launch our cab services in the month of August with the help of Savetur Digital Private Limited, which owns the TYGR app,” said Tanveer Pasha, former president of Uber, TaxiForSure and Ola Drivers and Owners Association in Bengaluru. “We want to give a local name to the app. ‘Namma TYGR’ or ‘Namma Huli’ are some of the names we are planning to use.”

Pasha further said that union members and Savetur officials are scheduled to meet former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy in the next three days to finalise the deal, a launch date and complete paperwork.
