The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Friday said Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals will be back in the Indian Premier League’s 2018 season, reported ANI. The two franchises had been banned for two years after Supreme Court-appointed Justice RM Lodha Committee had found in 2015 that a section of the team owners had indulged in betting. Their suspension period ended on Friday.

“IPL will be enriched by the return of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals,” said BCCI Acting President CK Khanna. “Both the teams have enjoyed tremendous on-field success and have a mass following. The loyal fans will again get to see their favourite teams and stars in action from the upcoming season of the IPL.”

Rising Pune Supergiant and the Gujarat Lions had replaced CSK and RR in the eight-team championship. The fate of Pune and Gujarat is currently unknown. Fresh auctions are likely to be held next year.
