Malayalam actor’s alleged assault: The phone in which the attack was recorded is missing, say police
Meanwhile, the court extended Dileep’s police custody till Saturday.
The Kerala Police on Friday said the mobile phone that was used to record the assault on Malayam actress was missing. “The cellphone with the assault video recording has not been retrieved,” said Special Prosecutor A Sureshan told the court, according to NDTV.
Meanwhile, the court extended the police custody of Malayalam actor Dileep, who was arrested on July 10 in connection with the alleged abduction and sexual assault of his co-star, till July 15. The Kerala police informed the court that the film star was not cooperating with them.
Dileep’s bail plea will be taken up on Saturday.
However, the prosecution sought police custody of Dileep for three more days, saying it was necessary for carrying out the investigation, PTI reported. “It is extremely important to ensure continued police custody of the accused for interrogation, for vital evidences,” said Sureshan.
The incident took place on February 17. A group of men had allegedly waylaid the woman’s vehicle in Athani, Angamaly, in Kerala’s Ernakulam district. They then took photos of her as they harassed her and fled with the car when they reached Palarivattom.
