Mumbai: BMC issues notice against RJ Malishka for mosquitoes breeding at her home
The order comes a day after Shiv Sena had demanded action against the radio channel she works at, for poking fun at the civic body.
Mumbai’s civic body, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, sent a notice to popular radio jockey Malishka over mosquitoes breeding at her Bandra home, The Times of India reported on Wednesday. The notice comes a day after the Shiv Sena demanded legal action against her and 93.5 Red FM for releasing a video poking fun at the BMC.
Mosquitoes were found breeding in a clay bowl kept under a pot and in the indoor plant pots in her flat in Bandra’s Pali Naka area in Mumbai suburbs. The notice was issued to RJ Malishka’s mother Lily Mendosa.
“We carried out a routine inspection in Bandra on Tuesday, after which the notice was issued,” Sharad Ughade, ward officer of Bandra, told Hindustan Times.
The video
The video mocking BMC’s ill-preparedness during monsoon was posted on social media and the audio of the song was played on the radio channel. The song was sung by RJ Malishka and was titled “Mumbai Tula BMC var Bharosa Nai Ka” (Mumbai, do you not have faith in the BMC?).
However, two Yuva Sena leaders demanded a Rs 500-crore defamation suit against the radio channel for “unfairly blaming” the BMC for problems that were “not under its jurisdiction”, ANI reported. Amey Ghole and Samadhan Sarvankar wrote a letter to Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta, saying the video maligned the image of the BMC.
