The Haryana Police said on Tuesday that Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s adopted daughter Honeypreet Insan has been charged for allegedly inciting violence after he was convicted of rape on August 25, PTI reported. Insan, who is missing, was booked at Sector 5 police station in Panchkula, and is now an “accused in the case,” Panchkula Police Commissioner AS Chawla said.

Haryana Director General of Police BS Sandhu also denied allegations that Honeypreet Insan had fled to Nepal. “We are hopeful of arresting Honeypreet, Aditya and Pawan Insan soon,” he said. Honeypreet’s name has been included in the same First Information Report that had booked Dera functionaries like Aditya Insan and Surinder Dhiman for allegedly inciting violence and arson, the police said.

On Monday, a Special Investigation Team of the Haryana Police questioned Dera Sacha Sauda Chairperson Vipassana Insan. The police questioned her about the violence that broke out in Sirsa and Panchkula after Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was convicted of raping two of his followers.

Sirsa Superintendent of Police Ashwin Shenvi said the police had summoned Vipassana Insan by sending her a notice, reported The Chandigarh Tribune. She was questioned for over three hours, said an unidentified police officer.

She was asked whether she was in contact with Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s adopted daughter Honeypreet, who is absconding. The police also questioned Vipassana about the seized luxury SUV, which was burnt by its driver near Phookan village.
